Experienced in all types of commercial roofing

There are many ways commercial roofing gets described. One way is by the type of roof on a building – flat, low slope, and steep slope. Another way is by the technique used to install the roof – built-up roofing, standing-seam roofing, single ply roofing, and torch down roofing. Most often, commercial roofing will be described by the material that is installed – Asphalt, EPDM, Metal, Modified Bitumen, SPF, or TPO.

Selecting the appropriate roofing material for your building is best achieved by using an experienced and licensed commercial roofing contractor who can communicate the advantages and disadvantages of the different roofing materials. Rocks Roofing’s commercial roof experts have over 20 years experience helping commercial roofing customers choose the correct roof type for their building and environment.

Types of commercial roofing materials we install

Asphalt Shingle Roofing

Asphalt roofing has always been the most used roofing materials for commercial roofs. Many commercial buildings have sloped roofs that work best with asphalt shingles, and asphalt shingles are cost efficient. Also, there are many shingle colors and styles available to select from.

EPDM Roofing

EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) roofing is often called “rubber roofing” because the roofing membrane material is black and flexible. They provide excellent performance and protection. EPDM is commonly used on flat and low slope roofs. EPDM is very popular because it is cost efficient, installation is easy, has no fumes or odors, and is cleaner than other built-up roofing materials. EPDM can last between 12 to 25 years.

Metal roofing

Consists of panels and flashing that are made in the factory, and panels that are cut and shaped on-site. The primary advantages of metal roofing is low maintenance, and low heat gain which increases energy efficiency.

Modified Bitumen (MB) Roofing

Consists of asphalt with modifiers that results in plastic or rubber features. MB has proven to perform well on commercial and industrial roofing systems. MB roofs are applied in rolls and torches are used to adhere the material to the substrate and flashing, and to seal seams. Modified Bitumen popularity has decreased due to the higher acceptance of EPDM and TPO roofing materials.

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) Roofing

PVC is one of the original single ply roofing materials. Plasticizers are used to make PVC roofs flexible and unlike PVC piping. PVC’s advantages are that it is very strong, resists chemical, fire, and wind damage, and offer ease of installation.

SPF (Spray Polyurethane Foam) Roofing

SPF is highly used on flat and low slope roofs. SPF roofs are seamless and be applied over existing roofs or new construction. SPF’s advantages are that it doubles as roof insulation and lowers a property’s cooling and heating expenses, and it removes the need for many kinds of roof flashing.

TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin) Roofing

TPO is a single membrane roof like EPDM. They were designed to offer the durability of EPDM rubber with enhanced performance capabilities of hot air weldable seams. Also, coming in large rolls, they are easy to install. TPO roofs are resistant to ozone, ultraviolet, algae, chemical exposure, and their strong material is resistant to impacts, punctures, and tears. The white TPO color offers energy efficiency because of their solar heat reflective capabilities that reduce cooling costs. The lifetime of a TPO roof is between ten to twenty years.
